Bias in Research

Bias: 
1. tending to yield an outcome more frequently than others in a statistical experiment.
2. deviation of the expected value of a statistical estimate from the quantity it estimates
3. an inclination of temperament or outlook
4. a highly personal and unreasoned distortion of judgment (prejudice)

Random:
1. Degree of conformity of a measure to a standard or a true value.
2. Randomness 'result of a mechanical process intended to ensure that individual biases, either known or unknown in nature, do not influence the selection of sample observations
